Celebrate sharing the love of skiing and riding

with a toast to the past and support for the future.

Equal parts skiers' reunion and new member meet and greet, Welcome Winter is where old friends welcome new friends to BBSEF.  We dream of the season ahead and raise funds that help the Bogus Basin Ski Education Foundation deliver on the promise of sharing the joy of competition with Treasure Valley youth.

Reserve October 26, 2018, on your calendar for the 26th annual Welcome Winter! Be sure to follow us on Facebook as we celebrate putting smiles on kids' faces while they build a lifelong love of sport.

Welcome Winter Fundraiser, Then and Now

Program Director, Carma Burnett had an idea. It was the early 90’s and sharing the love of skiing and ski racing with the youth of the Treasure Valley had momentum. New and returning athletes were signing up year after year, and Burnett needed to hire additional coaching staff. She proposed a dinner and auction fundraiser to longtime Board Member and President Gary Krause. He gave it some thought and then his approval. Together, they launched the Welcome Winter to such success that the festive event became an annual tradition. Carma Burnett continues to organize the event, and Gary Krause holds the distinction of having attended every single one.

To date, Welcome Winter has

  • Funded gates, start ramps, timing shacks, hardware, software, coaches' coats, video equipment and vans as well as furniture, shelving and flooring for the Jason Harper Training Center
  • Helped BBSEF grow into a program that offers development opportunities for competitive skiers and snowboarders ages six to 199; from Mitey Mite to high school, to USSA, FIS and Masters competitors

Best of all, Welcome Winter makes it possible for BBSEF athletes to apply the discipline of sport to success as Olympians, scholars and leaders in their communities.

Together, we build healthy communities through competition.
