BBSEF offers a variety of ski and snowboard programs and is dedicated to providing top level coaching to athletes ages 6 and older. Our goal is to promote amateur athletics and competition throughout the community to better represent the sports of alpine and freeride/freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
Your U (Under) Class is the age group that you will compete in. Each U class is specific to certain years of birth.. Alpine U classes are as follows:
U-21 – ages 18-19-20 (born in 1994-1993-1992) PG or FIS Team
U-18 – ages 16-17 (born in 1996 and 1995) FIS Team, Team Shred or Team Shred Travel
U-16 – ages 14-15 (born in 1998 and 1997) A- Team, Team Shred or Team Shred Travel
U-14 – ages 12-13 (born in 2000 and 1999) B- Team, Team Shred or Team Shred Travel
U-12 – ages 10-11 (born in 2002 and 2001) D- Team (Devo Home), C-Team or Team Shred
U-10 – ages 8-9 (born in 2004-2003) D- Team (Devo Home) Age 9 Team Shred or C-Team
U-8 – ages 6-7 (born in 2006-2005) Mitey Mites
Alpine Mitey Mites and D-Team (Development)
These programs are designed for ages 6 and older with basic skiing skills in search of a learning experience that will develop and all around skier. Team members are coached in skiing fundamentals and racing and freestyle technique according to their age and ability. We keep skiing and learning FUN!
Mitey Mite Program – Designed for the young ripper (age 6 & 7), this program is an all mountain program with a mixture of alpine race training and freeride training in a fun and safe learning environment. This is a 1 day a week program (either Sat. or Sun.) that is 12 weeks in duration. The program starts Mid. Dec. and goes through the first week of March. Athletes in this program are automatically entered into our club events, which includes; a Slalom race, a Giant Slalom race, our Big Mountain event and our end of season finale that that features competition in multiple disciplines.
Development “D” Team - Designed for athletes (age 8 and older), this program increases its focus on advanced alpine race training while blending in elements of freeride training in a fun and safe learning environment. They can choose to train either 1 day on the weekend or both Sat. & Sun. The D-Team program is 12 weeks in duration (Mid. Dec. – through the first week of March). Athletes in this program are automatically entered into our club events, which are a Slalom race, a Giant Slalom race, our Big Mountain event and our end of season finale that that features competition in multiple disciplines.
Is your racer interested in skiing more than one day a week? Is your racer 9 years or older and you want to do a little traveling and compete in the North Series races? If you answered yes to either of these questions the C-Team may be for you.
Race To Ride Team - Is a two day (Saturday & Sunday) program for those that want to train for both ski racing and freeride. Members will train one day with the D- team and one day with Team Shred Home Team.
North Series Team – Designed for athletes (age 9 to 13), this program is focused on advanced all mountain and alpine race skiing development in a fun and safe learning environment. This program is the next step beyond the Mitey Mite Team and Development Home Team. Athletes in this program train three days per week (SAT, SUN, & WED night) with the option to add additional training days. Program duration is Mid. Dec. – through March. There is a choice of race series to attend. All will start out competing in our local events as well as events offered at Anthony Lakes, McCall and Kelly Canyon. Those interested in USSA racing will be able to compete in the IMD North Series events that will be at McCall, Sun Valley and Jackson with the goal of qualifying for the Intermountain Championships at Park City. USSA Youth or Competitor license is required for athletes participating in USSA sanctioned events (additional fees for license apply). North Series Team athletes are automatically enrolled in Christmas Camp. North Series Team athletes are assigned lockers in the Jason Harper Training Center. Slalom and Giant Slalom skis are recommended.
Team Shred Home – Is designed for athletes 9 and older with basic skiing or snowboarding skills. This program is focused on advanced big mountain skiing development and other freestyle disciplines such as moguls and park. This program is designed to develop a well rounded all mountain athlete by providing a fun and safe learning environment. Participants may choose the basic Saturday or Sunday program.
Team Shred Travel TST– Is designed for athletes (age 11 and older), this program is focused on advanced freeride and freestyle disciplines in a fun and safe learning environment. Early season and specialized event training and may require travel to other resorts (additional fees will apply). The competition team trains 3 days a week during the ski season.
Alpine Competition Team (ACT) U14, U16, U18 and FIS Teams- Is designed for athletes U14-U21 (age 12 and older), this program is focused on advanced alpine race skiing development. Athletes in this program train three-five days per week. This team participates in the Intermountain Division of USSA. FIS and U18 Team members may have the opportunity to travel all over the western United States to competitions. Each athlete has a personal race schedule designed to help the racer attain his or her optimal skiing goals. There is a significant amount of time spent working with athlete management to ensure each competitor’s success. ACT on-snow training begins when Bogus Basin opens and finishes when its closed. Athletes travel to races as a team with coaches and team members.
